Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is a governmental program that provides financial assistance for food items. Products that cannot be purchase include tobacco, alcohol, pet food, or paper products.

If you prefer to apply using a paper application, print the Application for Assistance (PDF Linked)  complete the application and mail, fax, or drop off to your local Welfare Office.

Women, Infants, and Children (WIC): this program is available for all pregnant women to assist in maintaining and delivering a healthy child. Food vouchers are provided when  birth has been given until the child is 5 years of age.

The vouchers are accepted in most supermarkets in which you can purchase food and infant formula which provides breastfeeding support and help after you give birth.

Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) - this program provides monetary support and childcare. This program only provides temporary financial support until you are self-sufficient.

  • The money that is allotted to you can be used to purchase food, clothing, housing, utilities, and medical supplies.

  • If you are under the age of 18, you can only qualify for this program if you live with a parent, guardian, an adult over 18 years old, or in an adult-supervised supportive living arrangement.

  • The person who is responsible for you will be the one who is paid until you turn 18.

Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) - If your income is too high to qualify for Medicare, CHIP offers low-cost and affordable health care in which you and your baby may qualify for.
